More About Ragdolls

Ragdolls are among the largest breed of cats. Males can reach nearly 20 lbs. when fully grown and females may weigh in at 12 or 13 lbs. However, they are a slow maturing breed, only reaching their full size and color between 2 and 3 years of age.

All Ragdoll kittens are born white, then darken as they age. You can’t be sure of their color until they are a few weeks old. They continue to darken as they grow older. They come in many different colors but all Ragdolls have blue eyes.

Ragdoll fur has been compared to a rabbit’s - it is extremely soft and does not mat, although they will look their best with an occasional brushing. Yes, they do shed (all cat breeds do no matter what the breeder may say) but their shedding is minimal compared to other long haired breeds.

Ragdolls are by nature quiet cats. They don’t meow often and have soft voices when they do, but they will “talk” to their owners, sometimes “calling” you to see which room you are in. They love all their family and are friendly with strangers but are also prone to have one favorite person whom they jealously watch over and follow around the house. They love to greet you at the door when you get home from work.

They make excellent family pets - they are patient and tolerant of children - but, please, make sure your children are gentle with them! These cats are so loving they don’t deserve to be mistreated.

Each of our kittens has a special place in our hearts. We hope you will learn to love and cherish your Ragdoll as much as we do.
